Transport and Coulomb drag for two interacting carbon nanotubes

چکیده
We study nonlinear transport for two coupled one-dimensional quantum wires or carbon nan-otubes described by Luttinger liquid theory. Transport properties are shown to crucially depend on the contact length Lc. For a special interaction strength, the problem can be solved analytically for arbitrary Lc. For point-like contacts and strong interactions, a qualitatively different picture compared to a Fermi liquid emerges, characterized by zero-bias anomalies and strong dependence on the applied cross voltage. In addition, pronounced Coulomb drag phenomena are important for extended contacts.

Positive and negative Coulomb drag in vertically integrated one-dimensional quantum wires.
Electron interactions in and between wires become increasingly complex and important as circuits are scaled to nanometre sizes, or use reduced-dimensional conductors such as carbon nanotubes, nanowires and gated high-mobility two-dimensional electron systems. This is because the screening of the long-range Coulomb potential of individual carriers is weakened in these systems, which can lead to ...
متن کاملLinear and nonlinear transport across carbon nanotube quantum dots
We present a low energy-theory for non-linear transport in finite-size interacting single-wall carbon nanotubes. It is based on a microscopic model for the interacting pz electrons and successive bosonization. We consider weak coupling to the leads and derive equations of motion for the reduced density matrix. We focus on the case of large-diameter nanotubes where exchange effects can be neglec...
متن کاملIntrinsic Coulomb blockade in multi-wall carbon nanotubes
Carbon nanotubes provide a new class of molecular wires that display new and exciting mesoscopic transport properties. We provide a detailed theoretical description for transport in multi-wall nanotubes, where both disorder and strong interactions are important. The interplay of both aspects leads to a particularly effective intrinsic Coulomb blockade for tunneling. The relation to recent exper...
متن کاملSpin-polarized transport in carbon nanotubes
We present transport measurements of ferromagnetically contacted carbon nanotubes. In both singleand multi-walled nanotube devices, a spin valve effect is observed due to spin-polarized transport. In one single-walled nanotube device, the spin-valve effect is suppressed as the influence of Coulomb charging is observed at around 10 K. To help understand the interplay between the Coulomb charging...
